The Victorian Gambling Study is a major longitudinal study into problem gambling and health, that began in September 2009. The study follows thousands of Victorians, looking into the incidence of problem gambling and understanding changes in gambling behaviour over time. This study also investigates the pathways into and out of problem gambling.
It is the only large-scale, general population, longitudinal gambling study ever conducted in Australia, and one of only three studies of this kind in the world.
The study transferred from the Department of Justice to the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation on 1 July 2012. Wave Four, the fourth and final stage of The Victorian Gambling Study, is under development and will be released in 2013.
