With more young people in Australia gambling than ever before, the Foundation focuses our education activities to reach children in schools.
Research shows that 77 per cent of young people have gambled in the past 12 months. At the same time, Australia’s youth are increasingly being exposed to gambling advertisements (ACER, 2011). Online gambling is becoming an increasingly accessible pathway for young people into gambling, especially with the ownership of smartphones becoming the norm.
Teacher Resources
Since 2007 we’ve worked in partnership with Consumer Affairs Victoria to incorporate problem and responsible gambling educational programs into the Consumer Education in Schools Program (CEIS).
These programs inform students about gambling and the risks associated with it and helps them develop good decision-making and problem resolution skills.
Teacher resources are available on the Consumer Affairs Victoria website for both primary and secondary teachers.
