Awareness and prevention
This is an anonymous place for people affected by problem gambling to share their experiences. It's a place to find comfort and strength in each other's stories.
Please be aware that submitting a story, or reading these stories, is not a replacement for seeking help and advice for gambling problems but it might help you feel less alone.
Readers cannot comment or reply to your story. Our website administrators who review and publish your story are not trained counsellors, and you will not be contacted as a result of publishing your story.
If you need immediate help, please call Gambler's Help on 1800 858 858 or Gambler's Help Youthline on 1800 262 376 (from within Australia only). This service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is free and confidential.
As well as telephone counselling, there are many ways to seek professional and anonymous help for your own, or someone else's problems with gambling.
Please remember that anyone can ready your story including young people so no swearing or insulting individuals or groups, no libel or slander (things that could damage the reputation of a person, business or organisation that turn out not to be true), no lying, no fabricating (making things up), no negative comments about people of different ethnic background or religion, no threats of any kind or vulgar humour.
If we see something that breaches these guidelines, we will not publish your story or we might edit out the offending bits.
If you see a comment that you feel is inappropriate, please let us know
