Professor Malcolm Battersby explains how Exposure Therapy can be used to help people confront their gambling addiction. Working in a similar way to treating anxiety or fear, Exposure Therapy involves exposing people to gambling through the use of images and sounds to help them overcome the urge to gamble.

Malcolm Battersby is Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Flinders Human Behaviour and Health Research Unit and course leader of the Mental Health Science programs at Flinders University. Read more »

Professor Battersby was a chief investigator of SA HealthPlus Coordinated Care Trial in 1997 and studied chronic condition self-management with Prof Ed. Wagner in the USA as a Harkness Fellow in 2003. He has led the development, evaluation and implementation of the Flinders Program™ of chronic condition management, now provided across Australia and internationally.

He also leads the Flinders University component of the on-line and face to face training for the Coordinated Veterans Care program and the national training and implementation of the Flinders Program™ for chronic condition management and tobacco interventions for Closing the Gap in Aboriginal Health.
