What is the Gambling Information Resource Office (GIRO)?

The foundation's Gambling Information Resource Office (GIRO) provides information to community groups, local government and the public about gambling and its regulation in Victoria.

We provide information on:

  • the gambling environment
  • gambling regulation
  • gambling policies and programs
  • gambling research.

One of GIRO's main objectives is to provide information and support to help Victorians participate in regulatory and other processes relating to gambling, including licensing and planning processes associated with electronic gaming machines.

Our web pages are your starting point to find information and resources relating to gambling, but if you can't locate what you're looking for, please contact us.

The GIRO team monitors regulatory changes and liaise with organisations such as the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR), the Victorian Local Governance Association (VLGA), and primary care partnerships, as well as councillors and academics, to ensure information is accurate and up-to-date.

GIRO also monitors decisions related to gambling made by the commission and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).
