Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation
Problem gambling is known to be much more common in people with mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. This project, to be undertaken by Turning Point Alcohol and Drug Centre, will explore the relationship between problem gambling and mental illness in more detail.
The project will measure the prevalence of problem gambling among people seeking treatment for a mental illness in a variety of settings. It will also examine mental health practitioners' current screening and referral practices for problem gambling.
The project will inform treatment for people with a mental illness who are also having problems with gambling.
The project will cost $400 000 and is expected to be complete in 2016.
