Punters are being urged to avoid BetRegret in the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation's latest awareness campaign.
Tapping into the feelings of loss, guilt and regret, the BetRegret campaign features real Victorian gamblers sharing their experiences to help raise awareness among gamblers who are at risk of developing problems.
With research showing the more frequently people gamble, the more likely they are to develop a problem, Bet Regret aims to strike a chord with anyone who gambles, particularly during the Spring Racing Carnival.
In this news video, we talk to foundation CEO Serge Sardo, international prevention expert Dr Rob Williams, University of Lethbridge, Canada, reformed gambler Anna Bardsley, Associate Professor Nicki Dowling, Deakin University, and Rick Loos, Turning Point Alcohol and Drug Centre.
On www.betregret.com.au the foundation provides simple tips and tools to help people avoid BetRegret and prevent those feelings from leading to something bigger.
