For the benefit of Victorian citizens, the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation releases a large amount of information through online and print publishing.

The Freedom of Information Part II Information Statements show how the foundation makes information readily available to the public.

Making information easily accessible reduces the need for members of the public to submit requests under the Freedom of Information Act 1982.

The statements below outline the role of the foundation and make it easy for the public to find the information they need regarding key services, functions, and reports.

Statement 1 – Organisation and functions

The Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation is an independent statutory the authority that helps people affected by problem gambling, as well as their families and friends.

We are also responsible for fostering greater understanding and awareness of responsible gambling in the wider community.

We provide problem gambling counselling and other services for those affected by problem gambling, we run community education and information campaigns to support responsible gambling and commission research to ensure our programs are based on the best available evidence.

The foundation works within a public health framework, taking a whole-of-community approach by working to minimise harm at the individual and community level.

Statement 3 – Freedom of information arrangements

Under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the Act), members of the public have the right to request information and access documents about their personal affairs and activities of the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation.

A freedom of information request needs to be made in writing to the agency that holds the documents being requested. Requests for documents in the possession of VRGF should be addressed to: Freedom of Information Officer, Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation PO Box 2156, Royal Melbourne Hospital, VIC 3050

To lodge a freedom of information request, or for further information about how to make a request, please visit the Freedom of Information website.

Once the request is received, the Freedom of Information Officer will process it in line with the Act.
